Writing Centre
The writing centre is a place where children develop an interest in drawing and writing. They begin to form symbols, shapes and letters as they master the skill of holding and controlling a pencil. Children are able to express their feelings and imagination as this is a time where they can document their experiences and most of all have fun.
Writing centre develops:
- Pencil grip and Fine motor skills
- Hand - eye coordination
- Language development
- Creativity/imagination
- Positive attitudes towards learning how to write
- Understanding of colour, shapes, textures and size
- Self-confidence and Independence
- A place to interact with friends or be on their own
- Emotional satisfaction
